Version 2026-11-01
Terms of use
Effective 1 November 2026. These terms are a plain-language agreement for a small, private, invitation-based service. They are not legal advice; the operator should have counsel review them before opening to the public.
1. Who may use this service
You must be at least 18 years old. You must create one account for yourself, use accurate information, and keep your passkey and recovery key under your control. You may not create accounts for other people, operate a bot, scrape the service, or use it to break the law.
2. Invitations and approval
An account created with a valid invite is approved immediately. Accounts created without a valid invite are placed in a pending queue and may be approved, declined, or left pending by an administrator. An invitation is not a promise of access, and an administrator may close registration at any time.
3. Acceptable use
You are responsible for what you post and send. The community guidelines and illegal content policy are part of these terms. In particular, do not post or send:
- child sexual abuse material, sexual content involving minors, or any material that exploits a child;
- credible threats, incitement to violence, harassment, hateful abuse, or targeted privacy violations;
- non-consensual intimate imagery, stolen personal data, or another person's private information without permission;
- malware, phishing, scams, spam, or attempts to break the service's security;
- material that infringes copyright or other rights.
Post text is limited to accepted friends or only you. Chat is limited to accepted friends. Do not attempt to bypass the friend graph, the chat module, rate limits, or access controls.
4. Moderation and enforcement
Administrators may remove content, lock a chat room read-only, suspend or ban an account, preserve metadata for an investigation, and report illegal material to the appropriate authorities. Because direct messages are end-to-end encrypted, the operator cannot read them; moderation relies on reports, visible content, and metadata. Enforcement decisions are recorded in an internal audit log. You may appeal a moderation decision through the suggest a change inbox or the abuse contact.
5. Your content and privacy
You keep ownership of what you create. You give the operator the limited permission needed to store, process, back up, and display your content to the audience you selected. The privacy notice explains what is collected, why, how long it is kept, and how to exercise your rights. There is no advertising, no analytics, and no sale of personal data.
6. Chat and encryption
Chat uses Matrix end-to-end encryption. The server stores ciphertext and metadata such as room membership, timestamps, and account identifiers. The operator cannot read message contents, recover deleted messages, or decrypt history for you. You are responsible for your device, passkey, recovery key, and any exported encryption keys. Losing every credential can make an account unrecoverable.
7. Availability, changes, and termination
The service is provided as-is, without a service-level guarantee. It may be unavailable for maintenance, updates, or failures. Features may change. You may request deletion at any time. The operator may suspend or close an account for a violation, a legal requirement, or a security risk. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination, including disclaimers and limitations, survive.
8. Disclaimers and limitation
To the maximum extent allowed by law, the operator disclaims implied warranties and is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for content posted by users. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded. If a court finds a provision unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
